Track of the Day: Jonah Spitz – BRACELET (2024)

Meeting via their school volleyball team, Jonah Spitz and Ethan Chase bonded over a shared love for writing and performing music. Soon, the US-based lads were sharing their natural talent with the world in Spitz’s debut single ‘LAUGH’. While Spitz only began releasing music in 2023, he has already reached audiences on an international scale ranging from the UK, France, Germany and his native USA. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘BRACELET’.

Despite his young age and having only two singles in his repertoire, Jonah Spitz oozes sophistication and elegance far exceeding his years. Following ‘LAUGH’, ‘BRACELET’ is the first release in 2024 featuring Spitz on vocals and multi-instrumentalist Chase playing the guitar, bass guitar and drums. Recorded in Chase’s bedroom closet, the single should have a raw sound; however, the DIY effect is overshadowed by an astounding maturity in the production.

Shifting from a moving blend of pop and jazz in ‘LAUGH’, ‘BRACELET’ weaves together elements of soul, pop-rock and indie-pop. While the melody has a harmonic interplay and melding of bold bass, dynamic guitars and powerful drums, a slight distortion is heard with each instrument showcasing individuality before joining in symphonic union. A contemporary edginess exists in the underlying indie-pop tone of ‘BRACELET’; however, it is Spitz and Chase’s way of dragging vintage soul and rock to 2024 that makes the song nostalgic and familiar with a fresh edge.

Just as the melody melts your heart, the lyricism and theme will have you grinning with sheer delight. Spitz explains:

“I wrote this song for anybody who has or is feeling down, to understand that they will always have somebody they can lean on. ‘Bracelet’ shows how it will always help when someone is there for you, and it will always feel good being the one who is there for someone. This idea reminded me of bracelets or the “summer camp” feeling…”

In addition to the single, Jonah Spitz released an official music video for ‘BRACELET’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
