Youngtree & the Blooms – Heaven Ain’t a Lonely Road (2022)

There are times when you need a little help to feel good about things and get the inspiration you need to soldier on. This is what Youngtree & the Blooms offer with their single ‘Heaven Ain’t a Lonely Road’. The uplifting single is a melodic wonder, with a rugged, yet smooth, arrangement that takes the heartwarming vocals to new heights, while taking you along for the ride.

The first single off the band’s upcoming album was written about a friend who was in the hospital. Frontman Peter William Smith was born into a family of folk musicians and learnt to play the guitar, before starting to write his own songs at 15. While these songs remained locked in a box for many years, after landing in Nashville he debuted two of his original songs. As he was gaining traction in the music scene with his album Country Hymns, he started playing with Carole Bestvater, Joe Tucker, Chuck Boyd and Darren Browne, forming this musical project.

‘Heaven Ain’t a Lonely Road’ opens with a gentle guitar line that swoops into an Americana country-rock soar. There is a really expansive feeling to the melody as it scoops you up and takes you soaring through the atmosphere. Woven into this soaring movement is a warmth that settles on your skin like the first warm days of summer. This movement perfectly sets the tone for the single as it offers the first touch of upliftment that only becomes more powerful as the single progresses. As you soar on the warm currents of music, the far-reaching guitars wrap an inspirational happiness around you. Joining the stunning guitars is a rolling drum that has you tumbling into aerial acrobatics that causes a rise of good vibes in your chest.

The Americana edge of the melody is taken to another level by Smith’s vocals as they tap into the personal story behind the single. This moves into something more universal that we are all able to relate to, before rising with the melody to bring upliftment and encouragement. There is a sense of appreciation of all the things that make life worthwhile woven into the lyrics. This culminates in the bursting brightness of the chorus, which is extremely addictive. As the chorus flies through your soul, you are going to feel the urge to sing aloud with him, while smiling as you think about all the people who support you.

As they take you soaring on uplifting vibes in ‘Heaven Ain’t a Lonely Road’, Youngtree & the Blooms fill you with an appreciation for everything and everyone who makes life worthwhile. The country-rock vibe of the music lifts you into the atmosphere, where you glide on the warm currents of sound. The vocals add to the Americana vibe of the single, while drawing you into relatable inspiration.
