Y!KES – Hiding In Plain Sight (2020)
Y!KES is a British alternative-rock band based in Birmingham, UK. They are Oli Long (vocals), Liam Howard (guitar), TJ Weston (drums) and Matt Ford (bass). They released their single ‘Hiding In Plain Sight’ on 24th January 2020. Their influences include Foo Fighters, Muse, My Chemical Romance, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths, Tame Impala, The Cure and more.
The track starts with gentle guitar riffs, then the drumbeat kicks in and it becomes really heavy and loud (which is absolutely awesome). It has a great bass line with catchy riffs from the guitar. The vocals kick in and sound amazing. This is a love song but it’s a sad love song. He sings about a person being cruel and how wants the person to change for the better. He says the person should stop chasing rainbows showing only black and blue. It’s a very heartfelt song with so much feeling. A heavy rock song with a catchy beat, chorus and unique sound. Personally, I think the song is rather good and worth a listen.
