Worcester Ground – Satellites (2025)
Known for poignant folk melodies entwined with profound, insightful, heart-breaking lyricism, Worcester Ground tells personal stories in emotional songs. Originally gaining recognition with his album, Taking The Time To Heal, he was quickly established as a “rising voice in the UK’s acoustic music scene…”; as since, his songs have frequented notable publications and radio stations internationally. Moreover, his delicate style paired with confident performances has seen him share stages with acts like Scouting For Girls, McFly and Leona Lewis. Today, we are delighted to jump into his new single ‘Satellites’.
Describing 2025 as the “…next chapter for award-winning singer-songwriter Worcester Ground…”, ‘Satellites’ is a pivotal point in his musical journey. A true labour of love, ‘Satellites’ is entirely self-penned, composed, recorded and produced by the UK-based musician. Interestingly, while there is a sophisticated elegance to the single, the raw vulnerability of DIY ethics breathes in a gritty, gruff, youthful naivety woven in a mature arrangement.
For me, Worcester Ground’s music is more than a mere song to hear, it is a vivid expression of pure, passionate emotion. Combining powerful piano, veiled guitar, interspersed drums, and haunting strings, ‘Satellites’ pulsates with vibrance beautifully capturing the theme of tragedy and loss. An almost palpable tension wafts along the melody, each instrument bringing a separate feeling to the overall indie-folk attitude. Yet, for me, as much as the piano, drums, guitar and strings tug at your heart in insightful fog, Worcester Grounds’ vocals binds ‘Satellites’ in a poignant sonic wrapper.
“’Satellites’ is a song about losing my mum and a dedication to my brother. It’s about that feeling of looking up at the night sky, searching for something – some sign that the people we’ve lost are still out there somewhere. Grief is strange like that. Some days, it hits you hard, and other days, you just find yourself wondering if they’d still recognise you and if they’d be proud.” – Worcester Ground on ‘Satellites’
Sincere, sentimental, and brutally honest in the soothing melody, ‘Satellites’ is a tale of tragedy and woe, but with a sense of understanding and solace.
