Wolf – Bleed (2022)

There are few artists out there that offer the same fusion of styles and genres as Wolf. This outstanding blend of metal, rap, dubstep and dark wave is on full display across the tracks of his EP, Bleed. A teaser for his multi-genre debut album, this EP offers a little something for everyone, while getting you completely hooked on his stunning fusion sound.

A dubstep producer and metal vocalist, Wolf started this unique musical journey in 2017. Inspired by 2010 metalcore bands, he brings screams to vocals that flow into rap and melodic movements. Defying all attempts to box him into a genre, he brings something truly different to the musical world.

The EP opens with ‘A.V.B’ which sets the hairs on the back of your neck on edge through the high-pitched opening. The building energy of the track runs along your spine sending chills through your senses. Tension starts to grow in your stomach as the pressure of the music intensifies. There is a feeling of heavy breathing that enhances this feeling. The dark electronic-covered vocals have a feeling of finality to them that makes the gunshot hit a little harder. The electronic vocals take on a more computer-simulation vibe as the heavy dubstep zaps through your brain. It is a dynamic opening track that really sets the tone for what is to come.

‘Maxxed Out’ has a heavy rock guitar that punches you in the chest through the opening. This is joined by a beat that pounds in your brain. There is a frenetic energy to this sound that moves into the electronic tones. It is a fantastic transition from the heavy metal tones to the pure electronica. The vocals have a death metal scream to them as they fly out over the music that calls out to something deep in your soul. This is definitely a song that you will want to turn up and rock out to. Every aspect has been perfectly curated to blend and flow into each other while getting you moving in some form to the rhythm. You will honestly be shocked when it comes to an end because it is just that engaging.

The almost creepy vibes are back with ‘Garbage’ which brings back that chill along your spine through the progressive flow of the opening. The electronic tinges to the opening set a slightly false sense for the song as it completely swings as the vocals enter with pure death metal glory. This marks the point when the blistering guitars and paced drums shake you up. The vocals showcase the versatility of Wolf as he moves from angered screams to a smooth rap. There is a lot going on in this track, but it is all fantastic and perfectly blended. The movement of the vocals is seamless while the aggressive metal tones give way to light electronica and smoother melodic rock. As with all the other tracks on this EP, there is a lot to fall in love with.

The EP comes to a close with ‘Mentality’ and the much lighter touch to the opening. There is an almost delicate floating feeling to the opening that is contrasted by the deep beat that slowly makes itself known. This softness remains in the high levels as Wolf’s rap hits and brings a message that we all need to hear. There is a depth to the lyrics that urge us to push out of our comfort zones. Breaking through the rap are his metal vocals that bring a fantastic texture to the track. The change in his vocals makes you think there are a lot more people featured on this track and that is a true testament to his musical prowess.

Blending metal, dubstep and rap, Wolf offers us something truly unique, engaging and hard-hitting with his EP Bleed. Each track is a showcase of the sophistication of his musicality as he seamlessly blends genres and styles that you don’t think will go together. An immersive EP, you will be rather shocked when you reach the end and will probably start it all over again.
