Wattmore – Circus Life (2024)

Discovering a raw passion for music early on, Australia-based brothers Aiden and Kai Boak knew what they wanted to do and by gum, they’re taking the music scene by storm. With an eclectic, alternative and somewhat eccentric sound, the duo pushes the borders of punk, country and Americana (to name a few genres) to experimental limits and then step over the line. Come with us as we delve into their debut single, ‘Circus Life’.

Inspired by numerous artists from various decades, Wattmore’s music is not only a mish-mash of styles but transcends time fusing nostalgic vintage with refreshing contemporary. Recorded and produced at LWM House with Lindsay Waddington, ‘Circus Life’ is a music alchemist’s dream blending shifts of classic rock, alternative rock, Americana, and a slight glean of barn-dance country fluttering in the background. Interestingly, while the soaring guitars, pulsating drums, bold bass, and fiddle each bring individuality demanding attention, the flood of music comes together in a harmonic symphony.

One aspect I truly enjoy about ‘Circus Life’ is the journey; it is not a song to be heard but to be experienced. Sprinkling magical music fairy dust across a sparkling sonic river, audiences enjoy the ripples and waves in a vivid musical journey. You flit this way and progress at a leisurely pace; however, the underlying beat directs your course from laidback rock to country-inspired dancing.

Melodically, Wattmore’s vibrancy shines through in ‘Circus Life’, but the track is far more than a wash of intoxicating music. Co-written by Aiden Boak, Kai Boak, Allan Caswell and Kim Ferguson, Wattmore adds weightiness with profound lyricism. Wattmore explains:

“’Circus Life’ is more than just a song; it’s a story. The title subtly references the brothers’ experience with autism and the way it sets them apart… the track captures the feelings of isolation and the challenge of fitting in…”
