Unstuck – Occupied (2022)
With their debut single ‘Occupied’, Unstuck introduce us to their unique rock sound. Extremely catchy, the track brings infectious, yet slightly quirky, guitars to a fuzzy pop undertone. Not only is the single the first taste we have of their harmonic yet slightly off-kilter sound, but it is also the leadup to their five-track EP.

‘Occupied’ hits the ground running with a rush of guitars that push you in the middle of the back and get you running into the rest of the single. There is an intense energy woven into the music that shakes you up from the inside out while packing your muscles with energy that needs to be unleashed through pure movement. You can hear the slightly fuzzy touch to the guitars that soften the push as they run over the drums. Halfway through the single, there is a pause in the music like everything is finding its feet again, before picking you up again and running forward. The momentum of the melody is fantastic and has you rocking out to the sound like crazy. It is almost impossible to deny the infectious vibes of the track as the band replaces your blood with a pure rock movement. While the melody is a serious rock punch, you can hear a light undertone of pop trying to make its way through the guitars which adds a unique edge to the sound.
Flying out over the energy-packed melody are the vocals that have a slight punk rock vibe to them. Through the verses, the vocals grab your hand and send you careening down the melody at full tilt. The chorus hits a more melodic flow that gets you singing along with the band while giving in to the urge to turn the volume up. It is a really catchy chorus that is likely to be firmly cemented in your brain for long after the track ends. While the vocals pick up a lot of the energy of the melody, they also bring their own injection of fun to the sound.
