Train Room – Station Road (2025)
Described as powerful, unique, and having a “…quiet, tempered brilliance…” (Dublin Concerts), Train Room is that band you just discovered but feel as if you’d known for years. Formed about a decade or so ago, with their first gig at Dublin’s Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in 2016, Train Room is not necessarily a minnow in the music industry shark tank. If, however, the band is a minnow, they’re the bright, shiny, daring minnow demanding attention and annoying the sharks.
From the critically acclaimed debut EP, Delicate Bones, Train Room enchants audiences with notable reviews, “song of the week” status, and having their debut single, ‘Horizons’ used by the Council of Tourism to represent Ireland on a worldwide TV campaign. Come with us as we take a quick look at the upcoming single, ‘Station Road’.
Following the well-received 2024 singles, ‘Wired to the Moon’ and ‘Pleasure’, Train Room releases ‘Station Road’ on March 14th, 2025. The lead track from his upcoming album of the same name – set for release in May this year – ‘Station Road’ continues with Train Room’s distinctive folk sound. Yet, as much as there is a distinctive indie-folk tone, ‘Station Road’ is a pivotal turn with an eclectic inclusion of rock guitars, keyboards, and drums slicing through the sonic whirlwind.
For me, one of the more intriguing aspects of ‘Station Road’ is its rollercoaster of emotion and sound. Light-hearted laidback tones of hopeful comfort ease you into the melody, but you find yourself led out with a haze of dark, vulnerable, tumultuous alternative rock guitars. I find this shift not only dramatic, but a question of not knowing what to expect both in ‘Station Road’ and the upcoming EP. I am eager to find out, but until then I have Train Room’s discography to keep me company.
To be released in a few weeks, you can pre-save ‘Station Road’ and ensure you’ll have a chance to hear the brooding single.
