Track of the Day: Tim Camrose – Fly Again (2024)

Growing up listening to iconic artists like Bruce Springsteen, Elton John and Billy Joel, Tim Camrose became intrigued by music and a small flame of musical passion stirred in his heart. As he aged, Camrose dropped music to pursue a surgical career, but the flame still burned. After several years, Camrose set aside the scalpel and picked up his pen, capturing life’s intricacies in his moving melodies. With a penchant for engaging songwriting, his flame burned brighter than ever as he reached audiences far beyond his UK borders. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Fly Again’.

Joining Camrose on his musical journey, the UK-based singer-songwriter tells us tales of the past, hopes for the future and everything in between. Following the well-received EP Empty Roads, he steps into 2024 with his new single ‘Fly Again’ once again delving into the complexities of life. Shifting from the more grounded style of previous years, ‘Fly Again’ is a young bird spreading its wings soaring into uncharted territory.

Combining a piano, guitar and percussion in an acoustic melody, ‘Fly Again’ is simplistic leaning toward a calm folk sound. Soft, soothing and laidback, the track oozes warmth and hopefulness; however, Tim Camrose’s vocals insert a certain complexity beyond simple joy and confidence. Rich and bold, there is confidence in Camrose and the presence of the Collectives Gospel Choir quickly floods your soul with something good. Then again, wavering fragility lingers adding further depth to a song about living life, experiencing life, and pursuing life.

So, overall, what is my opinion of ‘Flying Again’? One of those songs that strike a chord without any effort, the track both broke and lifted my heart. Joyous and inspirational, you feel connected to Camrose’s poetic lyricism and sound; then again, there is a starkness within the kaleidoscopic tune that hits you with its intimate intensity. No real sadness or overwhelming excitement; merely the raw passion of simply being.
