Track of the Day: The Battles of Winter – Block S Falls
Describing themselves as ‘fabulous noise’, The Battles of Winter is a post-punk quartet hailing from London, England. Combining powerful instrumentation with effortless vocals, The Battles of Winter are leaving us anything but cold. Together frontman Alistair Gale, guitarist Lucas Manley, bassist Graeme Dinning and drummer Martin Good share meaningful lyrics and moving melodies. The latest release from this group is ‘Block S Falls’.
Recorded with Kevin Vanbergen (Slow Riot, Somnians) at Hastings Savage Sound on the eve of lockdown, ‘Block S Falls’ is filled with rich lyrical imagery and brash rhythms. This track is the first release following their critically acclaimed sophomore album At Once With Tattered Sails in 2016. It’s been a long time coming with three years between releases, and we are definitely not disappointed in the melancholic melodrama of ‘Block S Falls’.
