Track of the Day: Sweet Tooth – Sweet Sick Love

Sweet Tooth began with a pair of childhood friends who met in La Jolla, California, in 1999. At the time Trevor Barber was 10 and Jacob Schrimpf was 7. Six years later they met drummer Kevin Bingham at Cathedral Catholic High School. The lads remained friends throughout the years until 2017 they decided to set up Sweet Tooth. Influenced by Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and Tame Impala, the trio have released several singles over the past two years. The latest addition to their repertoire is ‘Sweet Sick Love’.

‘Sweet Sick Love’ is about four minutes of sweet, but not so sick, love for a listener. Despite the rather sombre lyrics, the soothing melody with effortless vocals makes this something to enjoy at any time of the day. If you want a new band to fall in love with, then Sweet Tooth is it!

“This song is a metaphor for freedom and unity. It’s about being able to see the freedom and have it always at an arms distance but unable to grasp. It’s about being a symbol when you don’t want to be. You don’t want to be a figurine, you want to be human. To love and to not have to worry about the things that are promised to us, but somehow are always taken away.” – Sweet Tooth on ‘Sweet Sick Love’
