Track of the Day: Snap Infraction – Memories of Ourselves
The brainchild of long-time friends Steve Karsch and Tony Iannuzzi, Snap Fraction walks the line between Oasis, Led Zeppelin and Supergrass (if a line can fall between three elements). Nodding to the iconic sounds of 90s indie-rock and 70s hard rock, the lads bring an old-school feel to a contemporary alternative rock scene. Described by Sinusoidal Music as an energetic and infectious duo, Snap Infraction is building a following with their hard-hitting enthusiastic music. We are happy to introduce you to Snap Infraction with their single ‘Memories of Ourselves’.
Following their double-sided single release ‘Take The Blame/Once In A Lifetime Daydream’ (read our review here), ‘Memories of Ourselves’ adopts a heavy rock sound with influences from Led Zeppelin. Combining Iannuzzi’s pounding drums with Karsch’s gruff vocals and dynamic guitar, Snap Infraction pushes you into a sonic swirl of rock music with kaleidoscopic walls and a head-bopping melody. As I mentioned above, these talented musicians bring an old-school tinge to contemporary alt-rock, and this is evident in the execution of ‘Memories of Ourselves’.
Showcasing their innovativeness with the incorporation of various genres in a four-minute track (give or take), Snap Infraction highlight their versatility, flexibility and pure artistry. Frontman Karsch jokes that the song is “…about getting locked out of your iCloud account”, but in reality ‘Memories of Ourselves’ involves something more frustrating. Karsch shares that the single was “…loosely based on a movie that I’ve never seen that I overheard some people talking about” – yes, I told you it’s frustrating trying to decipher the core of the material lyrics-wise. The thing is, whatever it is about, the personal narrative melds with the commanding instrumentation to, as Iannuzzi puts it, “…make the kind of music that we want to hear.”
Anthemic, intoxicating and toe-tapping, ‘Memories of Ourselves’ is made to be played live and loud! Turn up the volume and hit repeat as many times as you want; trust me, you won’t regret it.
