Track of the Day: Sid Seth – Wave (2024)
While Sid Seth’s vocal gymnastics and musical talent seem entirely natural – and they are – Seth only discovered his abilities as a teenager. Singing was not necessarily his first choice, and even when he graduated from school he opted for a degree in Maths. He did wonderfully but hated the subject, so his passion for music remained burning in his soul waiting to burst forth.
Skip ahead a few years and singer-songwriter Seth is receiving critical acclaim on an international scale, performed at notable live music venues across the USA, and collaborated with award-winning industry professionals; it all began with a conversation at the dinner table when Seth stood up and decided to study at the Manhattan School of Music.
Born and raised in India, but now residing in the USA, Seth’s music pulls together different cultures, experiences and styles in a unique sound. Inspired by life in its entirety, the tracks breathe life into reality oscillating from vulnerability to empowerment; Seth shares that “irrespective of it being a ballad or a bop, I try to find the light in these songs…”. ‘Wave’ is a soulful blend of pop and Afrobeat flooded with traditional Indian, African and modern-day Western tones.
Finding the line between warm soothing and bold brashness, ‘Wave’ is an intricate piece that simultaneously entwines sounds and gives each tone individuality. Recorded and produced with Al Carlson and Alex Psaroudakis, the track hits you with a steady beat pulsating throughout the melody; however, a charming tinge of Afrobeat and traditional Indian music brings kaleidoscopic obscurity to what might be considered an electropop tune. Bright and fluttering with joy, it’s impossible to not sway along to ‘Wave’ as Seth sticks a massive grin on your face and life in your feet.
In addition to the single, Sid Seth released an official music video for ‘Wave’. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel.
