Track of the Day: shishi – Oh God
Described as what surf music would sound like if it was made in the dark near the frozen shores of the Baltic Sea, we have shishi. A trio of Lithuanian beauties whose voices transcend that of the conscious realm, these ladies sing about living in times when nothing makes sense. Genre-wise, shishi blends the sugar of indie-pop with the distilled rawness of Riot Grrrl and punk rock. One of the latest releases from shishi is ‘Oh God’. Despite the melancholic concept of ‘Oh God’, the track is an upbeat and pleasant number.
“The song is written by an atheist. When you have nobody else to ask, you ask God. What the hell is happening? Is this the right place I’m at? What’s the meaning of all of this and why do I feel everything that I feel?” – shishi on ‘Oh God’
