Track of the Day: Lucid – Casanova
If you want a definition of funky indie-pop, then look no further than Lucid. Reminiscent of Sea Girls with a dash of Bombay Bicycle Club, Lucid is one of the more inventive indie-pop artists in the UK today. In fact, Generation described them as a “master class in how to write enjoyable music.”
Hailing from Cambridge, Lucid has had several line-up changes since their inception in 2015. Currently, this creative crew consists of Molly Clark, Shannon O’Shea, Toby Maiden and Fin Rimmer. Each member has always shown an interest in music being part of numerous funk bands, jazz ensembles and rock groups in the past. In 2018 they landed on their current line-up making 2020 a two-year anniversary of this group as it is.
Taking inspiration from renowned 60s girl group The Shangri-Las, but infusing it with the stylings of Avril Lavigne, Lucid is a female-fronted band with a powerful punch. ‘Casanova’ is the latest single from the EP Tell Me I’m Wrong released in 2019.
