Track of the Day: Jude The Obscure – Strong Enough
Hailing from South Manchester, Jude The Obscure is one of the most integrative and experimental artists to come across my digital desk. Drawing inspiration from jazz, blues, hip-hop and soul, Jude is starting to carve his own niche in the Manchester music scene. In the past few years, this Manchester lad has been collaborating with various artists while building his own sound. Last year, the multi-instrumentalist released several sings resulting in a feature on BBC Introducing. This year, Jude The Obscure is planning on a debut EP with the first 2020 single being ‘Strong Enough’.
As I mentioned, Jude The Obscure is an eclectic and experimental artist and ‘Strong Enough’ is evidence of this. A track about remaining resilient in the face of adversity, Jude discusses staying “strong enough” in a sociopolitical climate that makes people feel powerless. A upbeat yet somber track with some catchy hooks, ‘Strong Enough’ is a song made for stadiums. I have not seen Jude The Obscure perform, but listening to this song shows me the passion behind his work.
