Track of the Day: JILIAAN – Loser (2025)
A couple of months ago, singer-songwriter JILIAAN made her way across our virtual desk, onto our website, and into your ears with her single, ‘Lonely’. With a penchant for capturing human complexity in harmonic melodies, the Germany-based singer-songwriter not only has you tapping your toes but also looking deeper beneath the surface of profound relationships. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘Loser’.
Following the well-received singles ‘Love Like A Movie’ and ‘Lonely’, ‘Loser’ is JILIAAN’s third release in 2025. While one might place JILIAAN in the pop genre, her music explores different varieties of pop in a few minutes of music. ‘Loser’ brims with the tenderness of folk-pop but inserts the edginess of indie-pop with its heavier guitar and drums. Yet, as much as the arrangement weaves instrumentation in a vibrant sonic tapestry, it is the tender steadiness of the piano that engulfs ‘Loser’ in a veil of haunting, pop-inspired sound.
