Track of the Day: Jacqueline Loor – Nunca Te Olvidare

With a soothing sensuality subtly encased in heartwarming melodies, Jacqueline Loor has a way of leaving you breathless. Capable of ensnaring one’s senses and capturing your soul, singer-songwriter Loor has a completely inimitable sound.

Her music career began in 2019 and has gone from strength to strength grabbing the attention of KMS Reviews, Indie Music Center, Less Than 1000 Followers, and many more. In fact, her single ‘Burn It Down’ was placed on CW’s Batwoman; moreover, her singles ‘Show Them’ and ‘Don’t You Pretend’ will appear on a Netflix series later this year. Pretty cool, hey? For now, we have the honour of featuring her single ‘Nunca Te Olvidare’.

Authentic and powerful, Loor’s music combines a plethora of genres ranging from dance to indie but with a Latina twist. ‘Nunca Te Olvidare’ is one of her first Latin pop songs and uses a personal narrative to connect with audiences. When speaking about the single, Loor shares that she “wrote this song after I had a dream of my grandfather soon after he died of lung cancer. He was so happy and let me know he was in peace…I woke up with the song in my head and quickly wrote it.”

Translated to ‘I’ll Never Forget You’, ‘Nunca Te Olvidare’ is the haunting representation of love and loss in life. Using a simplistic acoustic-inspired piano and vocal design, the track speaks from the heart without any additional “bells and whistles”. What is potentially the most painful and powerful element of ‘Nunca Te Olvidare’ is Loor’s spine-chilling vocals and its harmonic flow with the melody. Yet, while there is a complementary quality between lyrical execution and melody, there remains an obscure arrangement showcasing the fragility and vulnerability of Loor.

A fan since we first covered ‘Find Your Way’ in 2020 (read our review here), Loor has always touched my heart with her music. ‘Nunca Te Olvidare’ may be simple when it comes to instrumentation, but Loor’s passion is tender, genuine and multi-faceted. This track is timeless in its introspective melancholy but be warned that its delicate nature will have you on the brink of tears.
