Track of the Day: Innerkid – I Lied

For some unknown reason, more and more American artists are making their way onto my virtual desk. Hailing from Austin, Innerkid (also known as Dawson Carroll) is another one of these amazing American artists. Producing a crisp alt-pop sound with electronic undertones, Innerkid moves the listener to an almost dreamlike state with his singles. Written in his home studio in Austin, but mixed and mastered by David Kim in the LA, ‘I Lied’ is one of a series of singles to be released in 2020. Talk about a long-distance collaboration!

The latest concoction from bedroom artist Innerkid, ‘I Lied’ is an aggressive single filled with raw energy. A highly introspective track, ‘I Lied’ examines personal boundaries and appreciating one’s true self instead of a societal stereotype.

“The last three years went by pretty fast for me. I moved to three different cities, I spent a lot of time travelling and I learned a lot about myself. It’s been hard to balance music and life and ‘I Lied’ was one of the first songs I wrote last year. It’s about me realising that we have the freedom to choose how we live our lives.” – Innerkid on ‘I Lied’
