Track of the Day: Haley Fishberger – Sweetheart
In her interview with RGM, singer-songwriter Haley Fishberger shared that her passion for music began at a young age – “music was a thing for me ever since I was about four….no matter what was going on in my life it has been my rock over the years.” Beginning with engaging live performances, Fishberger was playing open mic events at age 14. Fast-forward a few years, the US-based artist has performed at notable venues like The Viper Room, featured in numerous publications, received coverage on radio stations, and built a following across the globe. The latest addition to her well-received repertoire is the single ‘Sweetheart’.
Describing her genre as “persona pop” – pop with cinematic spice and a ton of attitude, Fishberger delivers songs with zest, passion and intoxicating melodies. The first release in two years, this songstress delivers a heartfelt, upbeat, “in your face” melody with ‘Sweetheart’. Self-produced, this single has a raw fury in an unapologetically powerful melody; however, a soft, soothing flow seems to exist beneath the bold arrangement. A combination of hard rock guitars melds with dynamic drums creating something that is simultaneously harsh with a chilled-out soul-inspired vibe.
Just as the melody is powerful and hypnotic, so is the significant message woven through the tune. Fishberger explains that ‘Sweetheart’ is “inspired by countless personal and universal stories of women having to put up with daily objectification and refuses to react calmly…”
Sincere and sentimental with a soulful flair, Haley Fishberger slithers into your ear, rocks about your cranium and squeezes your heart with her brutal new single ‘Sweetheart’. My only complaint is that it ended too soon.
