The Other Side Reviewstrack of the day

Track of the Day: Glytsh – SAV@GE

Founded in late 2021 by seasoned musicians Claire Genoud and Jennifer Diehl, Glytsh is something completely alternate to anything you might have even thought of listening to. In other words, there is absolutely no way to define their music – but I’ll try my best. As I said, the UK-based pair formed in late 2021 and since then have released three well-received singles. The ladies are reaching a global audience, featured on international press and radio, including A&R Factory, BBC Sounds, Radio X and many more. Come with us as we delve into their most recent single ‘SAV@GE’.

Following their acclaimed singles ‘Closer’ and ‘(Hard)Core Memory’, Glytsh adopt an eclectic, obscure and head-spinning sound in ‘SAV@GE’. Retaining the diversity of their previous releases, ‘SAV@GE’ is another amalgam of various genres within a single melody. While there is a mishmash of styles, there is a strong metal influence evident in the new song. Diehl’s vocals crash against the pounding drums and scorching guitars not necessarily building a crescendo to catchy choruses but maintaining that frantic vibe from beginning to end.

While the melody is enough to have you sit up and pay attention, Glytsh captivates audiences further with their meaningful lyricism. A song about not fitting into relationships or society as a woman, ‘SAV@GE’ has a rather provocative theme thread through the song. Guitarist Claire Genoud explains that the track “is a song about women who, when expressing opinions or feelings of disapproval, are very often labelled as noisy, emotional, hysterical or high maintenance.”

Mildly chaotic, bold and abrupt, ‘SAV@GE’ and Glytsh are not something for the faint-hearted; however, you should take a chance with their music. It may be “in your face” but it is something that will remain with you for hours, days or even months to come.
