Track of the Day: Georgia Crandon – Relapse (2024)

Georgia Crandon. One of the more talented artists to cross my virtual desk, and one I would definitely recommend to anyone. Who is she though? If you haven’t heard of her before this, don’t worry we’re in the same boat; however, once you hear her music you cannot forget its sweetness. From her 2020 single ‘If I Can Dream’ to 2024’s ‘Told Me To Go Home’, Crandon has intoxicated audiences internationally. Join us as we jump headfirst into her latest single ‘Relapse’.

Following her critically acclaimed track ‘First Class Devil (In Disguise)’, ‘Relapse’ is the fourth release from Crandon’s upcoming self-titled debut album. Similar to her single ‘Told Me To Go Home’, the new track retains Crandon’s soulful vocals dripping with an Ella Fitzgerald and Amy Winehouse attitude. In a kaleidoscopic sonic tapestry, a shimmer of blues melds with the prominent silvery soul, and then a kiss of jazz crisscrosses all in a charmingly hypnotic tune. The thing is, just as ‘Relapse’ has the seduction of soul, a rock-tinged guitar flares tapping back to classic rock bringing edginess to the boundary-breaking song.

The melody itself is sensational and Crandon’s vocals insert a sweet, sexy sassiness to ‘Relapse’; however, it is the mixture of sensuality and profound lyricism that makes ‘Relapse’ shine bright. Delving into the dark, gritty world of addiction, the new single might be mellifluous and sophisticated but it’s a little grungy. Crandon explains:

“In the past, I have had a tendency to fall hard and fast for people without putting myself first. That rush that you feel in the beginning is very similar to feeling drunk or high, all day, every day. Falling in lust or in love is highly addictive, and much like other substances or habits that may feel romantic, harmless and fun at first, you can quickly start to lose yourself and repeat the same toxic cycle when you don’t maintain control or values.”
