Track of the Day: Fox Jackson – Behind Closed Doors
Hailing from London, England, Fox Jackson is a singer-songwriter with groovy, soulful sounds. While Jackson’s sound is that of a more mature musician, his musical career actually began on stage when he was only 11 years old performing the lead role in Billy Elliot: The Musical. His time on the West End solidified his desire to perform pushing him to delve into the world of music. After performing in various other musicals and on television, Jackson easily transitioned to the music industry. ‘Behind Closed Doors’ is his debut single.
Inspired greatly by iconic funk and soul acts like Kool and the Gang, and Earth, Wind and Fire, Jackson creates a modern breed of soul, funk and jazz. Produced by Nick Burns, ‘Behind Closed Doors’ is seductive and sensual with steady bass lines and skilled guitar ala George Benson. Jackson’s effortless tenor vocals and melodies are reminiscent of Jonathan Butler – another artist who wanted to be George Benson.
While I refer to several soul artists, Fox Jackson shows a contemporary sound with his debut ‘Behind Closed Doors’. His unique and effortless vocals complement the bass line, guitars and drums (or is it the other way ’round). All I know is this lad may be young, but his groovy tune is that of a more experienced musician. I will definitely be keeping my eye on him and am eager to see what Jackson has up his sleeve.
