Track of the Day: Emmy Law – I Don’t Want It

Out of Nashville comes Emmy Law, with her not-so-Nashville sounding ‘I Don’t Want It’ something of a dance ballad, that actually works! Actually, Law is not such an unknown name to people spending their time on streaming services. After a 4-year spell in Atlanta, the Georgia-born Law has made the move to Nashville to continue developing her craft around fellow songwriters. Law’s music has performed strongly on streaming platforms seeing her amass over 338,000 Spotify streams and sitting on over 22,000 monthly listeners, showing the appetite for her as an artist.

Law’s time in Atlanta saw her perform for audiences at a number of notable venues across Georgia and North Carolina. Her relatability and love of connecting with fans has also seen her gain a loyal following on Twitch of over 2.8k which has allowed her to self-fund her musical projects. In an industry that’s notoriously hard to stand out in, Emmy Law is creating something truly unique and groundbreaking.

She released her debut EP Fairyland in August 2018 after running a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the album. Yet, moving to Nashville gave the songstress the chance to combine her love of pop, ballads and dance with impeccable musicianship. What makes ‘I Don’t Want It’ work is Law’s great melodic touch and ability to move from a slow ballad to a real dance track with aplomb and ease, with her gossamer-like voice leading the track all the way.

With the EP, ‘I Don’t Want It’ and a few other singles under her belt, Emmy Law is proving to be one of the names that just might make a wider impact beyond her native Georgia. The title might be ‘I Don’t Want It’ but you just might want to have this one on repeat.
