Track of the Day: Dirty Mitts – My Show
Described as a band that “has the ability to awaken your rock spirit that sleeps in your soul…” (Edgar Allan Poets), UK-based Dirty Mitts are pure and passionate rock and roll. With band members from Poland, the UK and Egypt, the foursome is not only unique in its presentation but incorporates diverse influences and cultures in their music. Along with coverage on Edgar Allan Poets, Dirty Mitts have received critical acclaim from Find No Enemy, Music Crowns, TJPL News, Music Arena GH, and Indie Dock Music Blog.
Known for their energetic, engaging and high-powered live performances, Dirty Mitts have a strong following from gig-goers. Yet, while their reputation is as a vivacious live band, their live band energy and hype seep through their in-studio recordings. The debut single ‘My Show’ is a bold blast of alternative rock with pounding drums, dynamic drums and Tommy’s gritty vocals. From the first chord, you can not only hear the vibrancy of classic rock but also feel its swaggering style oozing through.
Taking us back to the sound of the 70s, Dirty Mitts is a blistering tribute to the classic rock artists of yesteryear. Mo’s fiery guitar leads the melodic arrangement, with Matt’s bass and Mateusz’s drums breathing life into the tune. Yet, it is the vocals that really capture the dirty power of rock with a rugged, rough and raw execution. If you close your eyes, you can see Tommy strutting along the stage with Mo, Matt and Mateusz losing themselves in the spirit of rock and roll.
What I find intriguing is how the striking swagger of ‘My Show’ aligns so brilliantly with the message behind the music. Dirty Mitts explain that “the song is about freedom and enjoying the moment…we wanted to create the feeling of breaking out and the buzz of something happening that everyone needs to participate in, which for us will always be a rock concert.”
