The Other Side Reviewstrack of the day

Track of the Day: Bvrden – Lies

Born and bred in Rome, but now residing in the UK, Bvrden has a powerful, bold and unique style. The London-based Italian duo met during their childhood and since then have dabbled in all genres ranging from melodic metal to punk-rock. Despite being a relatively new band, Fabrizio and Valerio have featured on FV Music Blog, Nexus Music Blog, Indie Top39 and several online radio stations. Reaching audiences near and far, the pair are slowly growing a following for their energetic sound. The latest release from Bvrden is the single ‘Lies’.

The sequel to Bvrden’s debut single ‘Dangerous’ (read our review here), ‘Lies’ lays poetic lyricism atop a moving guitar-driven melody. Reminiscent of Fall Out Boy with a twinge of 3 Doors Down, the duo plunge their listeners into a whirlpool of hard-hitting sound. You may be left gasping for breath in this dizzying ambience, but the rich vocals act as an anchor for the listener. Moreover, the eloquent execution of the lyricism showcases the pair’s serious side with a depth in content.

Opting for a personal narrative, the lyricism becomes engaging with a conversational flow to the track. Yet, while there is a smoothness to the melody, the lads explore the fragility and delicate essence of human nature. ‘Lies’ is an empowering single helping people “find peace with the masks and vices that people keep wearing” and “not being intimidated by other’s judgement”.

Reflective and introspective, Bvrden’s ‘Lies’ is tons of fun with powerful guitars and rich baritones. What I find intriguing is the gypsy-influenced sound adding lighthearted joviality to the single. Infectious and anthemic, it is difficult to not dance to the toe-tapping track and clap your hands along with the lads.
