Track of the Day: Blue River – Tetsuo

Hailing from Cornwall, Blue River is an energetic indie foursome showing a true passion for their music. Yeah, we’re not sure what sub-genre to place them in, but doesn’t this just show they’re so unique they don’t fall into our style? Referred to as “powerful stuff” by BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephen, Blue River is already building a strong reputation and loyal following. Incorporating grunge, punk and surf-rock into their music, Blue River is a mish-mash of NIrvana, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys.

The latest single from Blue River is ‘Tetsuo’. The musical embodiment of passion and power in a three-minute track. The heavy instrumentation, particularly the lead guitar, complement lead singer Perran Nicholls’ commanding gruff vocals. The clever lyricism with carefully constructed melodies are a sign of a compelling and impressive band.

“‘Tetsuo’ is Japanese for ‘clear thinking man’. It’s a deep and powerful stomp from start to finish. This tune is about global warming and the effect it has on us.” – Blue River on ‘Tetsuo’
