Track of the Day: Alex Beaumont – I Swear I’m Really OK

Bold and beautiful, UK-based Alex Beaumont is the epitome of strong, fierce females with her vibrant sound and cheeky grin. Sharing music with the masses for the past four years (approximately), Beaumont is not a newbie and her sophisticated skills show her natural talent. With over 750K streams on Spotify for ‘I Swear I’m Really OK’, airtime on BBC Radio Solent, headlining shows in London’s Brick Lane, co-writing songs with established international musicians, and featuring on various music blogs/magazines, Beaumont has a resume to be proud of. The latest addition to her well-received discography is ‘I Swear I’m Really OK’.

Following her track ‘On My Own’, ‘I Swear I’m Really OK’ is Beaumont’s first single in 2022. Entering a new chapter in her musical journey, the latest single sees an evolution from previous material weaving together elements of pop, jazz, soul and indie. Written for “fierce females”, ‘I Swear I’m Really OK’ is a strong connection to ladies on an intimate level. Touching on the topic of “getting over an ex”, Beaumont uses a personal narrative to move from the heart-breaking end to an empowering “I’m going to be alright”.

“’I Swear I’m Really OK’ – here to remind us all that we are OK no matter our mistakes or decisions. We are enough and it is our time to shine…this is only the beginning; the time is now.” – Alex Beaumont on ‘I Swear I’m Really OK’

Along with the inspiring message, Beaumont brings an inspiring melody. A toe-tapping retro-soul sound springs forth from the first chord combining harmonic instrumentation with Beaumont’s rich vocals. She seems to wrap you in a comfortable sonic bubble while pushing you ahead and encouraging you to take control of your life. The interspersed horns definitely add something special taking you back to the soul/funk sounds of yesteryear, but with a contemporary pop edginess.
