Track of the Day: Abstra – Luces (2025)
The brainchild of singer-songwriter Moisés Inostroza, Abstra is a solo project that can be described as soothing and calm, but simultaneously complex, profound, and intriguing. Drawing the charm of his Chilean roots, Inostroza’s music breathes with Latin American flair; however, his eclecticism draws together elements of rock, pop, soul, and jazz proving Abstra is anything but pedestrian. Join me as I delve headfirst into the most recent single, ‘Luces’.
Following 2024’s singles ‘Ayni’ and ‘El Imaginario’, Abstra saunters into 2025 with his entrancing song ‘Luces’. Self-penned, composed, and produced, ‘Luces’ is an enigmatic fusion of soul and jazz with a Latin pop sheen. Sophisticated and elegant, the new single oozes maturity and mastery in its delivery; however, just as the song offers sophistication, innocent playfulness beckons from the core of the melody. Think of a veteran musician playing an open mic night – while you hear the skill, you feel the intimacy of a vulnerable piece.
Melodically, ‘Luces’ is a sensational song perfect for those happy days when you find yourself grinning, as well as those sad days when you need something to help you grin. Soft, delicate, and hopeful, Abstra holds you close with his music like an old friend sharing a cup of tea before a warm fire.
Now, this is just my opinion, but for me, it is the vocals that up the ante on an already emotive tune. Entwined with the harmonic guitar and drums, Fuper G and Abstra meld their dulcet voices in a rollercoaster of sound. I have no idea what the pair are singing considering the lyrics are Spanish, but what I do know is how the duo flit from pop tones to a quick hip-hop delivery without any disruption or discomfort. The words don’t matter because the music is so enchanting.
Abstra is a new artist to my ears, but I am so pleased he made his way across my virtual desk. With a masterful understanding of emotion and melody, I highly recommend everyone listen to ‘Luces’ – as well as all his other tracks. I cannot wait for more from this talented musician.
