Too Many Temples – Mother Said (2025)

A serendipitous meeting at the Rose & Crown Pub in Hounslow, Ranj, Sarb, Tom and Alberto bonded over a passion for music and, we’re delighted to say, formed Too many Temples. A UK-based foursome brimming with diversity, Too Many Temples draws together its members’ various cultures, experiences, inspirations, and styles – all culminating in an infectious, enchanting, “get up and twirl about to the insanity” sound. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Mother Said’.

Following the well-received single ‘Serpentine’, ‘Mother Said’ is Too Many Temples’ second offering in 2025. Self-recorded and produced, the track finds the line between sophisticated maturity and naive innocence with its grunge-inspired sound. Seemingly tipping their hat at Radiohead, Ash and Nirvana, but with a tinge of Oasis’ indie-rock, the single showcases Too Many Temples’ influences; however, there appears to be a rawness and vulnerability that stands tall and makes them a distinctive act within the London music scene.

Originally penned as a live epic tune, Too Many Temples engulfs audiences with the searing performance of ‘Mother Said’; however, the lads chose to strip back the song for a more fragile, delicate release. Tom shares:“It made us all a bit nervous… but it’s made the song feel like a haunting romantic tragedy.”

Melodically, ‘Mother Said’ is a hypnotic swirl of dynamic guitars, crashing drums, and a powerful bass lingering in the tune. After a quick listen, you can imagine the scorching live session, but this laidback, rhythmic, haunting concoction ensnares your senses, clutches at your heart, and sends tingles down your spine with simplistic ease. One aspect I find intriguing is how the silky eerieness of ‘Mother Said’ captures the confusion, vulnerability and confusion of its tale of seduction.
