Tom Craven – Let It Fall (My December) (2023)

From his EP In Rivers in 2015 to his latest single ‘Let It Fall (My December)’, singer-songwriter Tom Craven has received critical acclaim on an international scale. This is my introduction to Craven, but he has been featured in notable press like Less Than 1000 Followers, We Write About Music, Send Me Your Ears, Mesmerized, and many more. Described as “anthemic…” (Less Than 1000 Followers) and “…stunning” (Music Is To Blame), UK-based Craven is a force to be reckoned with. The most recent addition to his discography is the single ‘Let It Fall (My December)’.

Over the past few years, many bands and artists have stepped back dealing with the uncertainty of the pandemic and modern society. Tom Craven took this time to reflect on his music and life experiences returning with a honed, evolved and more sophisticated sound. The first release since his EP, Take Courage, in 2018, ‘Let It Fall (My December)’ touches on issues of vulnerability, inner turmoil, self-worth and relationships; however, it simultaneously oozes empowerment, independence and acceptance.

A collaborative project, ‘Let It Fall (My December)’ was recorded remotely with a full band of musicians in 2021. Blending elements of soft rock with toe-tapping pop tones and a layer of country slathered atop the melody, ‘Let It Fall (My December)’ is heart-warming, bold and quite sassy. Charming vocals slither through the guitars, drums and cheeky organ resulting in an anthemic tribute to reaching the bright light at the end of the tunnel.

Written and recorded acoustically over the past few rollercoaster years…the song chronicles a conscious departure from those negative souls who we surround ourselves with, taking stock of and accepting the melodrama of failing friendships and relationships and simply saying “no more” …” – Tom Craven on ‘Let It Fall (My December)’
