Tiphanie Doucet – My Own Way (2024)
With a naturally artistic personality, singer-songwriter Tiphanie Doucet expresses her creativity through a multi-faceted career. Beginning as a child actor on French television, Doucet found a passion for performing arts and quickly incorporated dance and singing into her journey. Driven by her love for music, Doucet mastered the piano, harp and guitar leading to a remarkable musical project. In 2020, her unique sound was recognised on the Canadian version of The Voice, and soon she was drifting into an international audience’s ears leaving a lasting impression.
Following her well-received album Re-Imagine-D#2, including her version of the iconic song ‘The Sound of Silence’, Doucet stepped into 2024 with the instrumental single ‘Letters-Outro’; today, we gander at her second single of 2024, ‘My Own Way’. A taste of her upcoming album Letters, set for release in June, ‘My Own Way’ is a significant reflection of her musical career and “journey through the music industry”.
As with most individuals delving into new pursuits, Doucet “grappled with conflicting advice and the pressures of conforming to industry standards…” – this is the underlying inspiration of her new single…but with a more empowering execution. While there is a poignant, powerful and profound theme running through the single, ‘My Own Way’ is light-hearted, carefree and oozes hopeful optimism. Doucet explains: “I think everyone has a moment in their life when they just stop listening to everybody and choose to make their own decisions…” – the true sentiment running through ‘My Own Way’.
Co-produced with OTTA, ‘My Own Way’ elegantly weaves bold drums and a dynamic guitar with a shimmering underlying piano. Airy and whimsical, the laidback melody seems to lift a heavy weight from your heart giving you leave to take a deep breath and, well, breathe. Simplicity haunts the song; however, the interplay between each instrument and Doucet’s moving vocals wrap everything in kaleidoscopic intricacy.
Sincere, sentimental, insightful and brimming with self-confidence, ‘My Own Way’ is the song we all need living in such an uncertain society. I cannot wait for more from this talented musician.
