Timothy Jaromir – Rebound (2024)
For over ten years, singer-songwriter Timothy Jaromir has playfully combined elements of folk, indie-pop and blues in his moving melodies. In 2010, Switzerland-based Jaromir released his debut album, Salton Sea, and since then has garnered a loyal following across the globe. From his engaging, confident performances, including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Canada and extensive touring through Europe, his mindful, complex music captured hearts on a melodic and conceptual level. In 2019, he began pursuing the Americana duo Goldscharz with Rykka Jaromir; however, we are here to explore his solo work. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Rebound’.
As well as being the first pre-release to Jaromir’s upcoming EP Man Atlas, ‘Rebound’ is his first release in three years. Following his 2020 album Hiraeth and 2021 single ‘Ghosts (Daggerss Remix), ‘Rebound’ is a soothing acoustic folk tune. Highlighting the beauty of simplicity, the acoustic guitars build a charming foundation with a barebone picking style; however, as minimalist as the arrangement may be, the vocals add a kaleidoscopic rush of sound to ‘Rebound’.
Known for delving into the complexity of the human spirit, ‘Rebound’ is filled with intricate themes deftly woven across the melody. Acting as a pulsating heart, the guitars are empowering but also discomforting. A song of self-realisation and growth, each pluck adds another step to a ladder of self-enlightenment. Yet, an increased vulnerability and fragility hits with each note. Oscillating from dark to light in a whirl of self-discovery, Jaromir touches on the sad, bad and hopeful light.
“Contrary to what the title of this single might suggest, ‘Rebound’ is not a love affair between two people, but rather about a love affair with oneself. More specifically: the song is about recognising what is good for you…” – Timothy Jaromir on ‘Rebound’.
In addition to the single, you can enjoy an acoustic performance on ‘Rebound’ right from your comfortable seat at home (or wherever you are). View the video below or via Timothy Jaromir’s YouTube channel.
