The Tell Alls – Pace the Pesos (2021)
After 10 years, The Tell Alls are back with the cautionary tale that is ‘Pace the Pesos’. Packed with the undeniable indie-rock sound the one-man-band showcased all those years ago, the track is the perfect introduction for new listeners and continuation for current fans. With lyrics that touch on a tale of financial caution and potential lessons learnt, this single is relatable while highly enjoyable.
Coming from the musical brain of multi-instrumentalist Kenny Buono, the single draws on his own experiences while turning them into something delightfully universal. Over the years, Buono has played with various bands after starting his career as the drummer for Flight of Mavis. Under this moniker, he is back to releasing music after 10 years and we are happy that he is here.
‘Pace the Pesos’ strums into your ears with the catchiest flow imaginable. There is a touch of surf rock woven into a plash of classic rock ‘n roll. At times, the melody fills you with happy summer vibes before you are taken by the hand and led into a swaying dance. The layering of the music is masterful as each instrument adds to the overall sound while dancing around with its own vibe. The guitar riff that soars through is amazing and instantly captures your imagination.
As the melody gets you helpless hooked to the track, the vocals bring more of those easy surf vibes. There is a light touch to his performance that makes you think about warm days on the beach. This is a little at odds with some of the lyrics that really do caution about irresponsible financial management. The catchiness of the lyrics and the easiness of the vocal performance has you singing along while the message of the track slowly sinks into your brain. There is a very good chance that you are going to be singing parts of this song throughout the day. Through everything, there is an interesting interplay of light vibes and financial warnings that we should all really take note of.
The Tell Alls fill your veins with warm summer beach vibes while bringing a cautionary tale of financial responsibility to our ears with ‘Pace the Pesos’. The music has you swaying before you know what has hit you and the guitar riffs put a smile on your face.
