The Red Monroes – The Way I Feel (2020)

Some bands just have to do it the hard way. You keep on honing your music, whatever style it represents. You keep on playing, any venues you can get slowly building your fan base until you get a bigger gig (including support for names that have already build certain stature). Even if you become a well-oiled music machine and create appealing music it doesn’t mean you’ll make it big someday. Unless, of course, you get that that big break you’ve been seeking all along.

Sounds exactly like the story UK-based foursome The Red Monroes have been going through for the last 15 years. They only settled on their current lineup about five or six years ago, slowly gaining a name for themselves supporting such acts as Reverend and the Makers and The Levellers. They even have had their music close out the credits on Sky Sports. Still, no really big breakthrough yet. Maybe their most recent single ‘The Way I Feel’ can do it for them.

‘The Way I Feel’ is one of those indie-rock songs that just keeps sticking to your ears. A fast-tempo rocker with a good chorus and solid instrumentation, some excellent lead vocals and background harmonies. Essentially, ‘The Way I Feel’ has that key quality any single should have – you keep on playing it over, particularly if it is in your car on any device you use to listen to music while you exercise or jog.
