The Ravs – Man Last Standing (2025)
Known for their unapologetic, raw, hard-hitting, and “in your face” attitude, The Ravs ensnare your senses with unabated passion and intensity. Zealous in their eagerness to not only launch you from pillar to post in a steady haze of music, the lads are keen to delve into those grittier areas of life; the grungy side that must be celebrated in all its glory. The latest addition to their discography is the single, ‘Man Last Standing’.
Released via Loose Lips Records, ‘Man Last Standing’ sees The Ravs’ blur the line between old-school punk, grunge and classic rock. Following the indie-rock meets Britpop-inspired singles ‘Gold’ and ‘You Missed The Moon’, ‘Man Last Standing’ might not be toe-tapping per se; however, it retains a sense of infectiousness that has you twirling about and pumping your fist to the song.
Recorded and produced at Sun Studios by Song Du, with mixing and mastering by Dan Doherty, ‘Man Last Standing’ simultaneously bursts with sophisticated elegance locked in raw punk energy. The crashing drums fuse with a bold bass, while soaring guitars weave in scorching splendor. Interestingly, while there is cohesiveness in the united melody – as much as 80s punk can be cohesive – the distorted prominence of each instrument enhances the profoundness, finesse and style of the track.
Melodically, the hard-hitting ‘Man Last Standing’ scrapes your knee, punches you between the eyes, and tosses you about in its rambunctious reverie. Yet, it is the rugged vocals that stand tall and pull the track into your ears and stick for days to come. Like a shot of vodka coursing through your veins, The Ravs and ‘Man Last Standing’ might leave you a little stunned, but damn it’s worth it!
