The Marble Arches – Faking The Moment (2025)

Determined as a band to “…never be put in a box, making music that constantly evolves, with hooks to make you move and think…”, The Marble Arches exist in the realm where music is communication and nothing else is relevant. Originally formed in 2017 by Harry Wainwright Little, The Marble Arches quickly established themselves as an exciting force in the UK music scene. Skip ahead a few years and their powerful performances, engaging melodies and profound lyricism have them reaching far beyond their Yorkshire borders. Come along as we explore the band’s most recent release, ‘Faking The Moment’.

The first release from The Marble Arches since 2022’s EP HEADS UP, ‘Faking The Moment’ is a pivotal point in the group’s return to streaming sites. Of course, by no means has the band been sitting on their laurels. Constantly honing a distinctive sound – although their distinctiveness seems to lie in experimental eclecticism – ‘Faking The Moment’ gives international audiences their fill of The Marble Arches. Well, it at least brings people to attention preparing them for future brilliance with a sensational four-and-a-half-minute taster.

Combining the natural talents of Harry Wainwright Little, Mason Greenwood, and Aidan Duley, The Marble Arches entwine elements of indie-pop, pop-rock, a slight shiver of funk peeping from the back, and the power of alternative rock. Threading a bold bass, soaring guitar, and crashing drums into its kaleidoscopic sonic tapestry, ‘Faking The Moment’ wraps about you with a soul-stirring, skin-tingling shine of music. Yet, as much as the single is melodic, rhythmic and harmonic, each instrument finds individuality within the united symphony. Like each thread shining brightly but meeting to create a beautiful tapestry.

Melodically, ‘Faking The Moment’ is a wonderful listen, but it is the lyricism and its execution that adds weightiness to a full-bodied track. The band explain:

“I’ve always wanted to juxtapose the instrumentation of a rock band against the polish of dance music. Combining the two emphasises the groove and pocket of a beat and reminds you of the human feel, that’s what we aimed to do with ‘Faking The Moment’. I wanted to use the track to explore themes of physical intimacy and how it can be destructive and manipulation, pitting this against a catchy dance tune makes a more compelling listen.”
