The Heavy North – Round Again (2023)

With a reputation for hard-hitting, energetic and vivacious performances, Liverpool rock band The Heavy North are making their presence known throughout the UK and beyond. Described by Janice Long at BBC Radio Wales as “absolutely stunning” and “an epic blues rock band” by Illustrate Magazine (plus many more blogs and radio stations), The Heavy North are making people grin from Europe to North America. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Round Again’.

Following their well-received single ‘Where Are You Now?’, a song touching on what people from our past are doing, ‘Round Again’ responds to the question. With social media, we are now able to catch up (or rather just read about) our old friends and partners; however, it isn’t always a good thing. First, you’re probably stalking the person. Second, they may be further ahead in their life, and you might feel inadequate resulting in self-pity (the sessions when you need to eat a lot of comfort food). Frontman Kenny Stuart explains:

“’Round Again’ is a song about being complacent with day-to-day routines whilst longing for a wilder, more carefree time. ‘Round Again’ is also a response to our last single ‘Where Are You Now?’ which is about wondering what people from our past are up to now, but this time we’re reflecting on our own circumstances and situations.”

Taken from The Heavy North’s upcoming album Delta Shakedown, ‘Round Again’ is filled with pounding drums, scorching guitars, gruff vocals and an interspersed harmonica giving it that heavy blues kick. Paying tribute to rock legends Led Zeppelin and Guns ‘N’ Roses, ‘Round Again’ heads to yesteryear with its heart-stopping forcefulness and blast of old-school rock blaring through our speakers. While The Heavy North push a hard-hitting rock madness, ‘Round Again’ is filled with raw vulnerability in its guitar-driven sound.

One aspect I love about The Heavy North is how their songs capture the beauty of their live sessions. When it comes to ‘Round Again’, the live performance sound flows through with ferocity. Undeniably an outstanding band when listening in the comfort of your own home, I believe their shows are even more mind-blowing. For some truly out-of-this-world blues rock power, be sure to listen to The Heavy North.
