The Golden Hour – Lucid Dreams (2021)

The Golden Hour had us musing with him about life and personal struggles in ‘Memoirs of a Future I’. With ‘Lucid Dreams’, he is taking a different route through dream sequences and woven threads of reality. The instrumental track has a wonderful ambiguity to it that allows you to draw your own meaning while still walking the paths that The Golden Hour lays out.

The single started with the intent to create the soundtrack of a dream. This led to threads of lucidity and dreams twisting together through the chilled electronic tones. There is a somewhat retro vibe to the track which enhances the dream-like quality which is wonderfully paired with an uplifting journey.

‘Lucid Dreams’ lightly brings you into the dreamscape through the tender tones of the synths. This does pick up the pace to really get you lost in the dream vibes of the music. The synths have an 80s nostalgia to them as they shimmer and shine in your ears. There is a dynamic movement to the music as you move from one dream sequence to another. Through the movement of the music, you can easily feel those transitions like you would if you are in the dream itself.

While the synths sweep from one dream to another, there is a common thread linking them all in the low level. The deeper synths are a common tone through the track letting you know this is all connected. The Golden Hour is able to bring dreams to sonic glory with an ease that is only possible through his musical abilities. The sound creeps up in the latter part of the single that makes you feel like the dream is reaching a climax of bright and twinkling lights. This drops for a touch of lucidity that comes through with the more grounded synths that take over the soundscape. All of this leads to a delight awakening at the end of the track just like you are awaking from the dream.

The Golden Hour takes you through the dream realm with the airy synths of ‘Lucid Dreams’. There is a chilled vibe to the synths as they weave a world of dreams into your brain. Through all of this, you are allowed to draw your own conclusions about the dreams and the rather peaceful moment of waking.
