The Anti-Groupies – Read The Room (2024)
Known for their electric, energetic and enthusiastic live shows, the all-female rock group The Anti-Groupies is earning a loyal following across the US. With over 100 shows in two years, Cassidy Fleeman (vocals and guitar), Isabella Broersma (guitar), Sydney Moore (bass) and Kyla Foster (drums) make the ground shake with face-melting music. Yet, this is not the only way they are turning heads. Insane at gigs, they share their chaotic melodies on an international scale from the UK to Germany, Brazil, Canada and Australia.
Given the sophisticated wrapper of a raw DIY sound, one would imagine The Anti-Groupies are an established act with at least more than three years behind them. Inspired by artists like Rush, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Sex Pistols and Paramore, the ladies ooze a powerful sound transcending genres, time and style. The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Read The Room’.
Following the well-received ‘Social Battery’ and ‘Voicemail’, The Anti-Groupies continue their profound take on reality through insatiable music. Tackling notable issues like toxic relationships, heartbreak, social tragedy, rebelling against societal norms and healing pain with loud shouts and face-melting sounds. ‘Read The Room’ is a lunge at “all the narcissists out there” screaming that the world does not revolve around them; in fact, no one really gives a damn.
Produced with Matt McJunkins of A Perfect Circle, ‘Read The Room’ is a screeching blast of soul-stirring music. Combining pounding drums with face-melting guitar solos, and a bold bass belying Cassidy Fleeman’s soaring vocals. Interestingly, while the arrangement unites in a work of harmonic art, a punk-inspired distortion gives prominence to each instrument enhancing the real oomph of the track.
The Anti-Groupies certainly showcase their influences in ‘Read The Room’ with strong leanings toward Paramore; however, a unique ruggedness storms across your ears. The ladies of The Anti-Groupies may charm you with their gorgeous looks, but they are by no means just a pretty face. With cheeky grins and crooked smiles, The Anti-Groupies are the epitome of female empowerment in 21st-century rock.
In addition to the single, The Anti-Groupies released an official music video for ‘Read The Room’. You can view the video below or on their YouTube channel.
