That Hidden Promise – Some Days (I just can’t stand) (2023)

The solo project of UK-based singer-songwriter Wayne Lee, That Hidden Promise brings listeners hard-hitting melodies with rock and roll stomping swagger. Releasing music for about six or seven years as That Hidden Promise, Lee has been described as attention-grabbing, anthemic, filled with character and nothing short of spectacular. With features on numerous publications, playlists and radio stations, including being placed on Louder Than War’s end of year best albums list, That Hidden Promise captivates audiences far beyond his UK borders.

Following his critically acclaimed album Who Knows Now?, released in 2020, That Hidden Promise re-emerges after two years with the album Pre-THP Vaults: 2001-2008, Vol 1 and the single ‘Some Days (I just can’t stand)’. Entirely self-produced, mixed and mastered by Wayne Lee, the new single is a hard-hitting blend of punk and classic rock twirling about a kaleidoscopic sonic whirlpool. Pounding drums match scorching classic rock guitars offering a guitar-driven madness from the outset. Punk pulsates from the back inserting even more frantic ferocity and, to be honest, it doesn’t let up for a single second.

Filled with chaos, ‘Some Days (I just can’t stand)’ is a single to jump about to while screaming your heart out; however, there is a profoundness resting within the melody. That Hidden Promise explains:

“The track is pure, driving heavy rock and roll with lyrics about restlessness and resisting being passengers in our own existence. Reaching into what has been, who has been, what could be and the quest for something more…” – That Hidden Promise on ‘Some Days (I just can’t stand)’

Perfectly capturing the theme, ‘Some Days (I just can’t stand)’ is a skin-tingling, breath-taking, mind-blowing sense of restlessness and unease. This is the lead single from That Hidden Promise’s upcoming album A New Horizon. I wait with bated breath for more from this talented, highly recommended artist.
