Telica – Summer Samba (2020)

If you are looking for a song that captures the feeling of summer, you have come to the right place. ‘Summer Samba’ by Telica looks to mimic the smooth and gentle vibes of summer. Through the energetic fusion of sound, you are hit with the beauty of summer days, the nostalgia of sun-soaked memories and the dance vibes of the summer sunset.

You might know the man behind the moniker Pavel Telica as the guitarist of the Doctor Gosso & the Samplers project. This is his first single from his new solo project and draws on a range of inspiration. Wanting to popularise jazz music by fusing it with some more modern genres and production, he has created a feel-good summer single.

‘Summer Samba’ hits you with some smooth vibes in the opening that sends your mind to days spent on the beach or by the pool. The guitar line that enters after this has a really funky groove to it. You can’t help but get drawn into the flow of the guitar line as it creates those lazy summer vibes. There is a light flavouring of George Benson to the music, but the sound is also unique in its rhythm.

While the song is guitar-driven, there are these other notes that accentuate the vibe of the primary instrument. The light notes that tinkle in the background have this edge of nostalgia to them. They also meld perfectly with the guitar at times. The beat of the song moves from groovy and shuffling to a deeper tone that lightly pounds in your chest. You can easily imagine listening to this song as you relax in the sun with a nice cold drink.

Telica hits you with the grooves of summer with the jazzy and funky ‘Summer Samba’. This instrumental track fills you with good vibes while you relax into the guitar-driven sound. It is a single that you would not be surprised to hear at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
