TaniA Kyllikki – I Am Good Enough (2025)
Raised in an abusive household and born with health conditions, TaniA Kyllikki has the right to be somewhat less than a happy ray of sunshine; however, that’s not the case. Regardless of her life’s uncertainties existing in an already unstable reality, the UK-based musician is empowering, accepting, hopeful, and eager to share resilience. While her older material could place Kyllikki in the RnB realm, it was her previous single, ‘Feel Good Vibes’, that saw her step beyond exploring and blending new genres in her soulful sound. The latest addition to her discography, ‘I Am Good Enough’.
The fourth single from Kyllikki’s upcoming album, Free-Spirited, ‘I Am Good Enough’ is a silky rush of old-school RnB with a slathering of vintage soul layered atop the smooth melody. Immediately dragging me back to the 90s, a brush of Toni Braxton glimmers alongside a gleam of Boyz II Men with heartfelt sincerity. I find this particularly intriguing as Kyllikki seems to transcend time, space and sounds with ‘I Am Good Enough’, introducing new audiences to the elegant sounds of yesteryear.
Produced with Rynellton, ‘I Am Good Enough’ is a swirling harmony of piano, drums and guitar wrapped in a soul-inspired silver ribbon. For me, the melody warms your heart and takes you on a languid journey into a wistful haze; however, Kyllikki’s vocals, once again, is the something-something to make your skin tingle. With an impressive five-octave range, she thrills us with her smooth soprano and holds us in the deep alto while resonating with the timeless theme of self-love. TaniA Kyllikki explains:
“This song is about finally setting yourself free from being trapped and allowing yourself to shine. Many of us have experienced abuse in one form or another, and as a result, we lose our identity, develop low self-esteem, and lose sight of our own worth. These lies embedded deep in our minds stop us from being free and celebrating and loving who we truly are… If we don’t love ourselves, we cannot love others in the right way…”
