Talley Tunes – Living At Full Speed (2025)

Pure punk is hard to come by these days; everything seems to be a fusion and exploration of many styles but not Talley Tunes. With his new single ‘Living At Full Speed’ there is no denying it is just unapologetically punk.

Embracing the spirit of all the bands that built the scene, there is no easing into this one. From the first note, it is fast, aggressive and leaves you in the dirt. At a mere 1 minute 31 seconds, it’s over before you’ve had a chance to process it and cries out to be played on repeat.

When I read that the one-man band his teeth playing the underground clubs and pubs of East Coast dives to the sun-scorched streets of LA, he had my attention straight away since I’ve always been a fan of everything punk, leaning more toward hardcore and the West Coast movements of the 80s. ‘Living At Full Speed’ had me hooked straight away since it was impossible not to draw comparisons with Black Flag and New Jersey legends MISFITS. The vocals for me are reminiscent of a young Glen Danzig with an air of Iggy Pop during his early days with The Stooges. Coupled with fast powerful riffs, this really is a song where no fault can be picked. It’s just an all-round excellent song.

From the very little I’ve heard, Talley Tunes has piqued my interest and I’m looking forward to what comes next. In a scene needing some fresh blood, I think artists like Talley Tunes can really make their mark if they keep on delivering the simple yet effective loud, fast and most of all angry music all of us punks long for!

Another highlight of the release is the music video which accompanies it, the DIY nature complements the track so well and really lends itself to the whole punk ethos.
