Sun Smash Palace – Do You Know What I Mean? (2022)
A collaboration of musicians from Germany, France and Italy, Luxembourg-based Sun Smash Palace is a melting pot of sound and culture. Formed approximately three years ago in South Korea, the current line-up blends elements of indie rock with pop to be Luxembourg’s only indie-surf band. Featured on Rising Artists Blog, Indie Dock Music Blog, Rock Blues Brasil, Roadie Music and various playlists/radio stations, Sun Smash Palace is turning heads across the globe. The latest addition to their discography is ‘Do You Know What I Mean?’
Described as having an addictive groove by Rising Artists Blog, Sun Smash Palace follows their self-titled album (released in 2021) with the single ‘Do You Know What I Mean?’. Upbeat and buoyant, the jovial ‘Do You Know What I Mean?’ tosses you into a bright pink swirl of sound. Watching the pinpricks of kaleidoscopic light pass by, your head spins and you lose yourself in the magical music. A soft, soothing combination of guitar and drums makes the journey smooth; however, it is the insertion of trumpets that adds a contemporary edge to the tune.
Influenced by The Beatles, Sun Smash Palace execute bright jangle-pop sounds with Eric’s mellifluous vocals. The thing is while there is an intricacy in the melody, it also has a simplistic quality that makes it easy to listen to. In fact, the flow of powerful guitar riffs rises elegantly into catchy choruses that are hypnotising. Reflective, sincere, sentimental and nostalgic, ‘Do You Know What I Mean?’ gives you good vibes leaving you with a big grin on your face.
