Strap – Mother Nature (2025)
For fans of Radiohead, The Smile, The Strokes, and Hozier, Dublin-based four-piece Strap is an exhilarating new force in the progressive rock space, and their latest single, ‘Mother Nature’, is the most compelling proof of their creative ambition yet.
Fronted by the magnetic Seán Burch, with Alex Moore (lead guitar), Matt Richards (drums), and Mateusz Owsianka (bass) rounding out the lineup, Strap has spent the past few years carving out a sound that’s as emotionally rich as it is sonically expansive. Formed in 2022 at BIMM Dublin, the band have steadily built a name through captivating live shows at Ragaire, Happy Days Fest, and other key venues across the city. But with ‘Mother Nature’, Strap seem ready to leap far beyond the underground and plant their flag as one of Ireland’s most exciting new rock exports.
At its core, ‘Mother Nature’ is an electrifying fusion of raw passion and intricate musicianship – a song that feels simultaneously intimate and vast. Its lyrical exploration of sensuality through the lens of the natural world is daring and refreshingly honest, offering an unconventional take on love, freedom, and vulnerability. There’s a touch of Radiohead’s poetic melancholy in Burch’s delivery, while the swaggering energy and groove call to mind the confident cool of The Strokes – all wrapped in a lush, progressive framework that never feels derivative.
Recorded and mixed by producer Janksy at Sonic Studios in Smithfield, ‘Mother Nature’ is a tight, meticulously crafted track that manages to sound huge without losing its emotional immediacy. Soaring guitars dance over an ever-shifting rhythm section, evoking moments of chaos and calm – the perfect metaphor for the unpredictable currents of desire and nature itself.
“This is one of our favourite songs to perform live,” says Burch, and it’s easy to see why. ‘Mother Nature’ pulses with an urgency that’s made for the stage, its climactic build and vivid lyricism destined to leave audiences breathless.
Following the success of their debut single ‘The Man Himself’, Strap is clearly gearing up for a big year. With ‘Mother Nature’, they’ve proven they’re not just another indie outfit, but a band with vision, depth, and serious staying power. Get them on your radar now – Strap is only just getting started.
