Steve Young – Come Around (2025)
In his 2024 single, ‘Feelin’ Fine’, Steve Young captured our attention, enchanted us with his magical music, and left us eager for more from this singer-songwriter. On one hand, a music teacher teaching bass, guitar, piano, drums, performance and songwriting in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire; on the other, sharing powerful melodies and poetic lyricism with a guitar in one hand and a mic in the other. Today, we’re taking a listen to the latter part of his musical personality. Join us as we delve into his new single, ‘Come Around’.
Following the well-received single ‘Dog ‘n’ bone’, Steve Young once again collaborates with The Real Time Players on ‘Come Around’. Finding some line between blues, alternative rock, country and classic rock – then promptly blurring the line – ‘Come Around’ is heavy, hearty, weighty, full-bodied and just damn fantastic. With a swirl of pounding drums, dynamic guitars and soaring keys, it’s easy to be lost in the kaleidoscopic haze of sound.
While Steve Young and Kriss Lawrence bind the wave of music in sophisticated production, there remains something deeper, dirtier, and cheekier in the overall song. The rich, warm vocals seem to bob, weave, dart, and linger in the melody, offering that cheekiness I mentioned. It’s a bit of a grin and wink with fun radiating from the track. To be honest, it makes sense considering ‘Come Around’ is about that casual making whoopie, but the dude is looking for more than a general coming around.
Will he get a stronger emotional connection? Will she answer his question to make something more than what is? Who knows. All I know is this song can get your toe tapping, stick in your brain, and you find yourself singing along without even knowing the words properly. Highly recommended!
In addition to the single, Steve Young released an official music video for ‘Come Around’. A cute edit of a 1923 Betty Boob clip, and we have to agree with Young – she might be over 100 years old, but she’s still a sexy lady. You can view the video below or on his YouTube channel.
