Stergin – Here And Now (2025)
With his hands in several pies, singer-songwriter Stergin is not merely a musician; he is a multi-talented, multi-faceted, experimental pioneer in the music world. Born and raised in Austria, but currently residing in the UK, Stergin’s music reaches to those parts of the brain where language means nothing and music reigns. While a producer, composer, performer, and award-winning multi-instrumentalist, the London-based artist uses music to educate, innovate, and express reality in all its grit and glory. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Here And Now’.
Taken off his upcoming EP Here, Stergin saunters into 2025 with his latest single, ‘Here And Now’. According to Spotify, this is Stergin’s first release since 2018’s ‘Every Now And Then (The Waz exp. & Mr. Kju Remix)’, but this does not mean Stergin has been out of the saddle for almost seven years. With his confident stage presence, he is honing his unique sound while intoxicating audiences; however, it is not only his live shows that turn heads as he reaches listeners far beyond the UK borders.
Self-recorded, composed and produced, Stergin daubs at different flavours of rock in ‘Here And Now’. While the vintage rock tone picks up sounds from the 1970s, 1990s and early 2000s, the single offers a contemporary edginess leaning toward modern-day alternative rock making the track nostalgic and refreshing. Soaring guitars meld with a bold bass, crashing drums, and a slip of keys glittering with synth-y shimmers. Interestingly, while mild distortion in the arrangement (reminiscent of grunge) exists, each aspect harmonically unites in the rhythmic symphony.
This is my introduction to Stergin and melodically, he is a weighty rush of sound caresses my face with its dark exterior; however, just as there is grit in the tune, his vocals exude warmth and understanding. Overall, ‘Here And Now’ is a complete celebration of life captured in an evocating few minutes of sound. I cannot wait for his EP to drop, but until then I’m happy to have ‘Here And Now’ on repeat.
