Stephanie Losi has collected all the anger and frustration this causes and packed it into a pushback through the single ‘The Animals’. Tapping into the struggle of fighting back and the upset the current state of the world brings, she contrasts angered lyrics with a playful melody.
While Losi has been writing poems and lyrics her whole life and grew up playing the piano, it is only recently that she started working with a vocal coach to unleash her music into the world. Hitting relatable emotions on the head, her music draws on her skills as a journalist and editor to weave a tale that pulls you in. The contrasting tones of this track are a wonderful showcase of what she has to offer.

The drums continue to roll and shuffle through the low levels of the melody, adding a little bounce to your step. This comes through the darker piano notes that creep like shadows through the melody. The melody is packed with a wonderful interplay of light and dark that perfectly captures the emotions of the track. It is almost impossible to listen to the melody without feeling the need to bop your head to the rhythm, while the shadowy undertones set your hair on edge.
While the melody is really stunning as it brings the initial contrasts of the track, Losi’s vocal performance and lyrics showcase a compelling style. Her performance has a storytelling vibe that pulls you into the tale that her lyrics lay out. The use of animals as a representation of people who attack human rights is wonderfully executed through the use of rich imagery. This imagery adds to the almost whimsical edge of the single, while speaking of a much deeper issue. As you listen to the lyrics, you can feel the warning Losi has woven into the track. There is a light touch of anger laced into her performance that is softened slightly by the playful bounce of the single.
