Sleeping Together – Time To Reflect (2023)

A few months ago, we took some time to sit back and listen to the debut single ‘Summer Girl’ from foursome Sleeping Together. Well, we liked it and now we’re absolutely thrilled to have another single from this talented UK-based band. With only one year beneath their belt, the group that came together via Facetime is quickly garnering a loyal following. Reaching audiences on an international scale, the lads have been described as having “…an infectious sense of charm and guile…” (Clout), “…a vibe distinct from other indie bands” (Sinusoidal Music) and are “a band to keep under the radar as they produce quality music” (Edgar Allan Poets). The latest addition to their discography is the single ‘Time To Reflect’.

Similar to their previous singles ‘Summer Girl’ and ‘Money & Nicotine’, Sleeping Together adopt an indie-rock sound in ‘Time To Reflect’. Yet, while a contemporary indie-rock sound can be heard, there is a leaning toward old-school pop-rock/pop-punk of the 90s. A mild reminiscence to Scouting For Girls and Busted can be heard, with a tinge of McFly, but the bold “rock-ness” of Sleeping Together gives them a heavier, harder and more contemporary edge. It is as if they took all the sounds of those iconic pop-rock bands, rolled them into a ball, and slathered it with a unique tune that is entirely Sleeping Together.

Inspired by being a young adult in today’s society, ‘Time To Reflect’ explores that complex experience of love. The Beatles sang that “love is all you need”; Sleeping Together turn that on its head disagreeing with Paul, John, George and Ringo. Frontman Alexander Lloyd-Jones says that “love is not what I need” as he takes us on a journey through a past relationship which almost saw him lose his sense of independence.

“’Time To Reflect’ is about losing yourself in a relationship and how hindsight is a wonderful thing, mostly. It’s easy to get lost in love, but it’s not always as bad as it’s made out to be provided you keep hold of the key elements of yourself.” Sleeping Together on ‘Time To Reflect’

Sincere, sentimental and introspective, Sleeping Together explore human fragility and complex relationships with an indie-rock slap to the face…but it’s awesome!
